What will this product do for me?

It will improve the air quality in your home, office, and work place. It will eliminate much of the potential for transmission of bacteria or viruses from one person to another through surface contact as well as airborne pathogens. Optimum Air UV Air Cleaners for HVAC Units

UV-C light is a known germ killer and when placed in your air supply, it will kill molds, mildew, germs and other airborne pathogens from spreading throughout your home. According to the EPA, 10% of all colds are caught outdoors, leaving the other 90% being caught and spread indoors. The germicidal effect of UV-C is achieved through a photochemical process. The contaminants that pollute our homes are almost entirely based upon organic compounds. These compounds breakdown when exposed to high intensity UV light at 240 to 290nm. The UV light will destroy the DNA of the microorganism or contaminate, therefore breaking down the organic material we find in our indoor air. The UV light must hit the contaminants in order to penetrate the microorganism and breakdown the cells molecular bond. This is achieved by the air passing through the air handling system. K177, or the hydroxyl radical created also does the same thing as it reaches the cell membrane.

The elimination of the cell membrane and change to the molecular bond will render contaminates harmless and they will no longer reproduce.
